This impressive large folio box displays a beautiful black and white print of Visscher’s panorama of the City of London in 1616, fifty years before the Great Fire of London. The viewer stands on the south bank of the Thames and looks over at the old Somerset House, York House, the old St. Paul’s Cathedral, London Bridge, the Tower of London and the medieval City of London. On the south bank, the Globe Theatre is visible as well as other notable landmarks.
