This is a one-of-a-kind box featuring an elegant hand silk-screened Sogara Japanese paper depicting peacocks and other birds, irises and other flowers.

The box was inspired by a box I saw on my travels in China – hence the name China Box. The chest has a stationary tray with compartments at the top of the box plus two removable drawers with no compartments.
The interior of this chest is lined in black linen throughout. (Green linen also looks wonderful with this paper.). I used solid brass hardware on the box, as well as wooden molding to frame the bottom of the box.
The exterior dimensions of the box are approximately: 9.5″ long by 8.5″ wide by 6″ deep. The tray is 8.5″ long by 6.5″ wide by 1 3/4″ deep.
Interior dimensions of the drawers are approximately 8 3/8″ long by 6 3/4″ wide by 1 1/2″ deep.
